However, heavy reliance on imports poses risks to this supply. In response, the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act aims to build a secure, sustainable CRM value chain.
Environmental observations, gathered from satellites, ground-based systems and citizen science campaigns, help us understand the changing Earth system. These data provide the foundation for decision-making across sectors like agriculture, fishery, local governance, and emergency services. They are also crucial for addressing the challenges outlined in the European Green Deal.
